The new overhauled Twitter

Twitter, the world’s most popular micro blogging service has received an overhaul.  Already Twitter is the best way to interact with the world around you, from catching up with friends to following your favourite mentors and role models. The overhaul will give tweeters a easier, faster and overall improved tweeting experience.

The first thing that will be seen is the familiar timeline, where tweets are displayed. However, beneath each tweet will be a small selection of information, and even embedded media.

Now, all that needs to be done is click on a tweet, and a detailed pane will slide to the right hand side of the page revealing information on who posted the tweet and details about them.
The main improvement is the addition of infinite scroll, allowing users to continuously scroll through previous tweets, without having to click view more.

Embedded photos and videos can now also be seen directly on twitter, thanks to a number of business partnerships with DailyBooth, deviantART, Etsy, Flickr, Justin.TV, Kickstarter, Kiva, Photozou, Plixi, Twitgoo, TwitPic, TwitVid, USTREAM, Vimeo, yfrog, and YouTube.
Related content will be another large improvements to Twitter, with users now able to see related content to the author and retweets and reply’s to the post.

Mini profiles will also be viewable from the information pane which appears at the right hand side of the screen when a tweet is clicked on.

What this will mean is that the focus will start to move away from users spending more time on other users pages, and spending much more time on their own, with the need to move from page to page to learn about another user becoming obsolete, unless someone wants to know even more about them.

This means that business users will need to focus more on the quality and quantity of tweets to promote their business, instead of just an appealing profile page, as many users will not ever need to look at the profile pages again. Want to discuss your Social Media options? Contact us today!
