The Domain name you choose for your new website is an important factor that search engines consider for your website placement.
Try and select a Domain name that includes a keyword or phrase about your product or service as this will increase the ability for search engines like Google and Yahoo to have your website ranked for related keywords.
Don’t go for a name with multiple hyphens as search engines may have a negative view as spammers often register names with multiple hyphens to fool search engines for high rankings.
Another reason registering a Domain name with hyphens is best avoided is that word of mouth translation of a website address using hyphens can be confusing.
When you register a Domain name it is best to get both your country Domain and the .com Domain. Don’t let the competition grab your business if a web visitor types in .com and you are .co.nz

A good tip. Although using a google search keyphrase as your root domain name is a (albeit small) factor in ranking your website for that keyphrase, it may be looked upon as “spammy” by actual humans. A human performs the search, and if the result looks like spam, the human is less likely to click on the website link. A google result like “www.keyword-search-phrase-here.com” would not get my click. Yes,
1. come up top in a google search
2. look like a legitimate, valuable website link
3. even be branded (e.g. kleenex.com)
Then, I may click on you.
